UROP’s mission is to enhance biomedical and biotechnology skills capability-building for Victoria, with the specific aims:
- To give as many high performing undergraduate students as possible an opportunity to gain real life experience as part of biomedical research teams;
- To build workforce capacity skilled in biomedical research, particularly in developing fields, and attract students from other disciplines into the biomedical and biotechnology sector;
- To widen community and industry understanding of biomedical science through the formation of linkages between universities, the medical research institutes and the biomedical industry;
- To increase the number of ‘work-ready’ graduates.
