The goal of all research in the biomedical sector is the delivery of improved health outcomes. Translation of basic research findings into improved clinical practice can only be delivered by qualified health personnel, such as doctors, nurses and allied health workers.
However, heavy clinical service delivery workloads, lack of funds and a lack of institutional support for research activity make engaging in research increasingly difficult for hospital staff.
The Bio21 Cluster has convened a group of early career clinician researchers to provide a voice for this group, identify obstacles and find ways to improve and facilitate clinical and translational research. Participation across all relevant organisations in Victoria is encouraged.
