The Bio21 Cluster, a not-for-profit public company, is the governing body of a collaborative cluster of twenty-two Melbourne institutions, encompassing universities, tertiary health services, medical research institutes, CSIRO and other member-based organisations.
With international strengths in biomedical research, healthcare and education, the Bio21 Cluster provides a unique means to foster strategic and collaborative innovation from basic science through translational research, to deliver social and economic benefits.
Through its Scientific Advisory Council and other committees, the Bio21 Cluster facilitates the advancement of basic biomedical science, translational clinical research, research training, science communication and education and commercialisation of biotechnology discoveries.
Key to the success of the Bio21 Cluster is its independence from any one member organisation.
