About The Speakers
Dr Greg Marchand currently has an appointment as Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He has over 15 years of experience in Medicine and Medical Informatics, including extensive work with Azzyxi and Amalga in research and patient safety initiatives as well as developing ongoing quality assurance monitoring tools. He has a great interest in finding innovative ways to use health care data to improve patient outcomes as well as community health. He has been an invited speaker on the subjects at conferences around the world. Dr Marchand is also the associate medical director for MedSTAR transport, providing medical oversight for both air and ground transports of over 400 critically ill patients each month. Dr Marchand earned his Medical Degree at the Boston University School of Medicine and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Chicago Hospitals, where he served as chief resident in his final year.
Professor David Taylor is Director of Emergency and General Medicine Research, and Chair of the Human Research Ethics Committee at Austin Health, Melbourne. A University of Melbourne graduate, he undertook three years of post-graduate training in the UK, three years as a volunteer in Papua New Guinea and one year as a medical officer in Antarctica. He completed specialist training in Emergency Medicine in 1994 before undertaking three years as a Research Fellow and Attending Physician in the USA. He now works full-time in clinical research and serves as Chair of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) Clinical Trials Group, member of the ACEM Trainee Research Committee, and as Section Editor for the journal Emergency Medicine Australasia.
