Bio21’s education objectives are to:

the programs supported by Bio21 or provided by Bio21 Members
Undergraduate Research Opportunities
Program (UROP) UROP is a scheme designed
to give undergraduate students an early opportunity to experience
real life in a research
laboratory
and gain insight into careers in biomedical research.
The program is
managed by Bio21 Australia Ltd
Gene Technology Access
Centre (GTAC) GTAC
organises activities to assist teachers, teachers in training,
school students and community groups
in their understanding
of DNA Science. GTAC is located at the University
High School and
is supported by the Walter Eliza Hall Institute
of Medical Research, the Department of Microbiology
and Immunology
of the University
of Melbourne, the Department of Education and Training
and the University High School. Young
Achievement Australia (YAA) Biotechnology Entrepreneurs
The YAA
Biotechnology Entrepreneur program provides postgraduate
students with an opportunity to
participate in a 20-week
program with a team of students to form a company
to sell shares, develop,
manufacture and sell a product with the aim
of returning a dividend to shareholders. Along the
way students
gain a variety
of business
skills. The program operates annually with
an intake in the first half of each year. |
